This week's Top Ten Tuesday topic: Top 10 Books I Almost Put Down, But Didn't. And most of these, I actually cannot justify why I finished them - other than I was so far in, it was almost pointless to not finish them. There has rarely been a book that I almost put down, but didn't, that ended up actually being good.

A sentry mouse poked his head out of the door and studied the small traveling party. At the same time, from where he waited in the gloom, Hopper was able to study the sentry with his own downcast eyes; a strange sense of familiarity washed over him.

Wonderful teaser! Sounds good to me!!

Here is my Intro post!
Thanks, Guatami!
DeleteI don't really like Fangirl as much as everyone else!
ReplyDeleteI didn't, either. I hated it, in fact.
DeleteYou saved me from reading Fangirl for which I'm very grateful. I think I would've hated it just as much as you did. Glad I'm not the only one who finishes books and then wonders why on earth they wasted the time!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad my review was such a help! :) I think that happens to every Reader, though it seems to happen to me quite a bit.
DeleteYou've got some popular ones on your list. I actually just got Fangirl this past week. I really loved Eleanor & Park. But I haven't started Fangirl yet so I have no idea how I'll feel about it. Insurgent wasn't my favorite book at all. And I've seen mixed reviews for Throne of Glass. I still don't know if I'll ever pick that one up or not. Have a great week!

Your reaction to FANGIRL probably won't be the same as mine, since you liked a previous Rainbow Rowell book (though a lot of people who loved ELEANOR & PARK didn't seem to like FANGIRL). I hold out hope for the THRONE OF GLASS series as a whole.
DeleteI love your teaser and I agree with you about Splintered. I hated that book.

I should have known that SPLINTERED would be horrid. ;)
DeleteYAY!!! Finally somebody else who disliked Fangirl as much as I did. I was not a fan of the use of HP rip off fanfiction, especially when they go on to mention HP in that book. If HP exists in that world than Simon Snow wouldn't, the author would have been sued. STUPID BOOK!
ReplyDeleteI also really didn't get Splintered, everyone else seemed to, but it just did not work for me AT ALL! Throne of Glass is one I am nervous to read now, we seem to have similar taste and now I fear it might disappoint me too. Great picks :)
You are not alone. ;) I haven't yet read HP (it's on my list! I finally have all the books!), but I can definitely see why the ripoff ticked HP fans off. Maybe you can answer this for me: why isn't Simon Snow considered plagiarism? In other words, why didn't Rainbow Rowell get in trouble using it, when it's so clearly supposed to be HP?
DeleteSPLINTERED felt like a super, duper bad drug trip (not that I personally know, but - friends), and the love triangle was just messed up. THRONE OF GLASS itself I think will frustrate you. But as a series, I honestly do think it might get better as it goes along, because Book #2 had some truly epic moments! When it wasn't focusing on the love interests, and Celaena wasn't being a brat, I genuinely liked it. So . . . maybe wait until Book #3 at least comes out?
