I tell myself he must be sleeping or have his headphones on. I knock again and again. I reach into my pocket for the bobby pin I carry with me, just in case, and bend down to examine the lock. The first one I ever picked was to the closet in my mom's office. Eleanor put me up to it because that's where our parents hid the Christmas presents. I discovered lock picking was a skill that comes in handy when you want to disappear during gym class or when you just need some peace and quiet. All the Bright Places (ARC) by Jennifer Niven (pg. 183)

  1. Sounds interesting. I wouldn't mind having lock picking as a skill... although I have yet to find myself in a situation when it might be handy.

  3. I hadn't heard of this one yet. Thanks for sharing it. I would love to have a lock picking skill. Would have come in handy when I've been locked out of the house. Keys were inside the house. My Teaser is from Jennifer Estep's 12 th novel in her Elemental Assassin series. Black Widow

    1. Lock picking is a very useful skill to have - especially when you're the youngest of three siblings who liked to pick on you (that's me). ;)

  4. I'm surprised you didn't get to Prisoner of Night and Fog. You usually have everything World War II read in a heartbeat. ;)

I did get to White Space, which was really interesting, but a little dense. I know a lot of people DNF'd on that one.

    1. I know! I have a huge stack of WWII novels that I bought in 2014 that I just didn't get around to. It's shameful, especially considering how much I love that era. I think I'm going to make February my WWII month.

I've heard mixed things about WHITE SPACE, and the length has kind of been what's kept me from starting it yet. But with the sequel coming out soon, I want to read it sometime soon.
