Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, everyone!

It's time to look back on 2014 and look ahead at 2015! So, we'll look back on 2014 first. I at first challenged myself to read 150 books, but due to life and other things, I brought it down to 100. In total, I read 130 books! I did not get my driver's license in 2014, but I am taking my practical test this month! I did actually finish buying at least of the series that I own - I don't know how that happened, but it did. I cleaned my library and room - multiple times. ;) But I did not do a bookshelf tour. I promise that I will. I first need to finish learning my way around Robert, my new camera.

I'm doing any New Year's Resolutions this year because I kind of just want to see what life throws me and go with it. Oh, except I'm going to BookCon. That is totally happening!! And January 6th, I get to meet Brandon Sanderson. I might even get to meet Joelle Charbonneau!

I started out with a list of books I planned on reading throughout the year. I got through roughly half of them. And this year, I have a 2015 reading challenge I'm doing! Should be a lot more fun. This is the reading challenge:

Read A:

  • A book with more than 500 pages
  • A classic romance
  • A book that became a movie
  • A book published this year
  • A book with a number in the title
  • A book written by someone under 30
  • A book with nonhuman characters
  • A funny book
  • A book by a female author
  • A mystery or thriller
  • A book with a one-word title
  • A book of short stories
  • A book set in a different country
  • A nonfiction book
  • A popular author's first book
  • A book from an author you love that you haven't read yet
  • A book a friend recommended
  • A book that won a prize
  • A book based on a true story
  • A book at the bottom of your to-read list
  • A book your mom loves
  • A book that scares you
  • A book more than 100 years old
  • A book based entirely on its cover
  • A book you were supposed to read in school but didn't
  • A memoir
  • A book you can finish in a day
  • A book with antonyms in the title
  • A book set somewhere you've always wanted to visit
  • A book that came out the year you were born
  • A book with bad reviews
  • A trilogy
  • A book from your childhood
  • A book with a love triangle
  • A book set in the future
  • A book set in high school
  • A book with a color in the title
  • A book that made you cry
  • A book with magic
  • A graphic novel
  • A book by an author you've never read before
  • A book you own but have never read
  • A book that takes place in your hometown
  • A book that was originally written in a different language
  • A book set during Christmas
  • A book written by an author with your same initials
  • A play
  • A banned book
  • A book based on or turned into a TV show
  • A book you started but never finished

I have at least half of these covered already, so this should be super fun! I hope you guys have a wonderful beginning to 2015! I certainly have some exciting things planned, and I have a good feeling about the year in general. And I hope to see some of you at BookCon!

  2. Awesome reading challenge! I hope you have an awesome start to your year too. I'm jumpstarting with finishing the first draft of my current novel and hopefully getting my hedgie so maybe I won't get depressed as usual. Of course, now that I'm watching Supernatural, I'll probably be more emotionally compromised than depressed :P

    1. Thanks, Hazel! The same for you! I can't wait for you to get your hedgie, and don't worry - we'll both be emotionally compromised by Supernatural. ;)
