I fell to the cement floor, bashing my head and my shoulder. Something tore inside my shoulder. It screamed in protest, and I had trouble gathering up my body again. I felt jumbled and frozen with the pain of it.

SKY ON FIRE? No; it's a post-apocalyptic/disaster novel. And the second in a series. Pretty good so far.

DeleteOooh, I love your list. If I had read Shadow and Bone this year instead of last it definitely would have made the cut! I love that series. I've pre-ordered Ruin and Rising, and CANNOT WAIT until it's released next week!!! Also, I haven't read Cruel Beauty yet, but I've heard so many good things about it, so I really want to check it out. Great list!

JACKABY is the best read of the year, and I don't think anything will match it.
DeleteGreat list! I see a couple on there waiting in my TBR pile. But no! You're the third list I'm come across naming Cruel Beauty as a top pick...I'm starting to feel guilty for not liking it much. :(
ReplyDeleteEveryone has their likes and dislikes - and it may also have been the mood you were in when you read it. I'm re-reading THRONE OF GLASS right now. The first time I read it, I hated it, but I'm actually rather enjoying it now. Still don't like Celaena, but everything else is pretty cool.
