Hedgehog Life: October 2014

For some reason, it feels like I haven't done one of these in ages! I guess that's what taking a month-long break does to a person. It also seems to make a person completely lazy and thrown off their groove!

Yes, that's my excuse. A lot of you (or maybe not) might have noticed that I haven't exactly been on top of everything lately. I had my first late post on Friday, and again Tuesday morning. The truth is that while September was a great time to take a break, I kinda wonder if maybe it shouldn't have extended into October. Because this month has been so insanely busy - and I have so not felt like reading - that I want to scream. It has been the month of doctor check-ups and people visiting. I haven't had time to do anything.

There's also the matter of: I'm in a reading funk. It is taking me far longer to get through The Universe Builders than it should. I've been double-reading books, but it isn't working. Something threw my schedule off, and when I don't have a schedule, I freak out. So I need to take a step back and reorganize.

But October hasn't been all horrid and stressful. I've been taking weekly swing dance lessons (!!), I've been able to write some, and I had loads of fun doing two shopping trips with a friend and my sister. In the words of Lady Sybil Crawley: "Is there anything more thrilling than a new frock?"

November will hopefully calm down. Well, sort of. Christmas is looming.

Happy October, everyone!

  1. Ooh! Swing dance lessons! I've always wanted to do that :) Very fun. I'm glad you've got some writing done (and again, loved what you sent me!) I'm on the verge of starting a new novel so I've mostly been brain storming and spend a lot of time just staring off into space :P Hope the rest of October is less stressful. This is my favorite time of year, but I won't deny the fact it is busy.

    1. It's a lot of fun - especially when 1) you actually know what you're doing, and 2) you get a partner who makes you look good, no matter how bad you are. ;) My stories are still mostly playing pingpong again, but I've got a little bit done in all of them, so that's something. Thanks; I hope it's a little less stressful, too. I usually like October.

  2. Sounds like it might be time to put The Universe Builders down and move on to something you're excited about, even if it's not on the schedule. Something silly. That's about the only way I get out of reading funks. :)

    1. I powered through it before the weekend hit. So glad to be done with it! Now I'm excited to start reading again!
