Hedgehog Life: 6/29/15 - 7/5/15

This week wasn't nearly as crazy as the past week, thank goodness. But it also wasn't a great week. . . .

This Week I Read
A Darker Shade of Magic by V. E. Schwab (5/5 strawberries)
- Let's Get Lost by Adi Alsaid (2/5 strawberries)

This Week I Reviewed:
Nothing. . . . . :\

What's In Store for Next Week
Monday: Review of A Darker Shade of Magic by V. E. Schwab
Tuesday: Top 10 Hyped Books I've Never Read
Wednesday: Waiting on Wednesday with The Uninvited
Thursday: Review of Let's Get Lost by Adi Alsaid
Friday: Review of The Wicked Will Rise by Danielle Paige

The week started out awesome; Monday my sister and I went to a friend's house and helped her pick cherries. One tree was right against her house, so we climbed up on her roof to reach the cherries, and we sat up there talking afterward, enjoying the summer breeze and watching the sunset. I was reminded of how surprisingly magical it can be to sit on a rooftop. Sound a little weird? Maybe, but there really is something about it. You see the world around you in a new way; you feel untouchable, that life is suddenly full of possibility and mystery and wonder. It's been a long time since I've sat on a rooftop, and I've determined to scrounge up a ladder so I can sit on top of our barn again and read and stargaze and think impossible thoughts. :-)

Wednesday, though, I was struck with a cold and spent all day having a Supernatural marathon. It was a minor cold; I'm already feeling tons better. Sometimes my body forces me to rest; to reset my sleep button so I can get back into a restful routine. It was annoying having to put a halt in my scheduled plans on Wednesday, but ultimately the rest did me good.

But of course, Saturday was Independence Day! I hope you all had a good one! Once I got over my cold, I had a great time. A friend had a pool party, then I went to a barbecue at a neighbor's house, and then I spent the night on the barn rooftop watching fireworks. :-) Can't get much better than that! The following morning (today!) some friends and I went on a day hike and now we have a full night of dancing! Yay!

This upcoming week shouldn't be too crazy. Hopefully. But we're heading into July and there's no telling what might happen!

Keep reading, my friends!

  1. That sounds like a busy but fun week! I can't remember the last time I was up on a roof. Long, long ago, I expect. But I'm glad you're feeling better and had a good holiday!

    1. It's been years for me, too - well, except I've done three times very recently. ;) I love rooftops.
