When Did You See Her Last?
(All the Wrong Questions #2)
by Lemony Snicket
Publication Date: October 15, 2013

From Goodreads:

I should have asked the question, "How could someone who was missing be in two places at once?" Instead, I asked the wrong question - four wrong questions, more or less. This is the account of the second.

In the fading town of Stain'd-by-the-Sea, young apprentice Lemony Snicket has a new case to solve when he and his chaperone are hired to find a missing girl. Is the girl a runaway? Or was she kidnapped? Was she seen last at the grocery store? Or could she have stopped at the diner? Is it really any of your business? These are All the Wrong Questions.

The Mirk and the Midnight Hour
by Jane Nickerson
Publication Date: March 11, 2014

From Goodreads:

Jane Nickerson's second novel, also set in the Strands world, is based on the Scottish Ballad of Tam Lin, and is set in Mississippi during the Civil War.

Violet Dancey, a seventeen-year-old whose father has left to fight in the Civil War, is forced to confront Thomas, a hurt Union soldier near her home. She must decide how to approach the enemy - and how to deal with her growing attraction to him.

  1. Ooh, THE MIRK AND MIDNIGHT HOUR sounds good! And I still need to read a Lemony Snicket book. Nice picks!

    1. The "first" book in the series - STRANDS OF BRONZE AND GOLD - is amazing. You can read my review in my book reviews archive. Lemony Snicket was an obsession when I was a kid, so I'm thrilled that he wrote a new series. :)
